The Centellias Startup – Honoring Thanh Hoa's Herbal Heritage
These lessons fueled my desire to take on bigger challenges, which led to the creation of my first startup, The Centellias.
The pennywort plant symbolizes the sacrifice and courage of the people of Thanh Hóa during wartime, closely tied to the story of growing pennywort to disrupt enemy trains and support the nation's defense efforts. For me, this project was more than just selling centella-based products or stepping into the world of entrepreneurship; it was about celebrating my cultural heritage.
The journey was far from easy—there were countless nights spent refining the juice recipe, designing posters, and figuring out logistics. After days of chopping pennywort, experimenting with just the right splash of coconut milk, and scribbling down different ratios on flour-dusted notes, the hard work paid off: within three days of opening, we sold nearly 200 cups. This experience of "turning an idea into reality" fueled my ambition to explore deeper studies in economics and business, with a vision to build meaningful ventures.
Pursuing Business and Economics Studies Through In-Depth Research Projects
The innovation of sustainable rural tourism contributes to job creation, enhancing the role of aboriginal women: the case of Thanh Hoa province
My first research project was inspired by stories of women with limited job access and education in rural areas. Seeing how traditional roles restrict their growth and affect families and the community, I felt compelled to help create more economic opportunities for them.
To contribute meaningfully to this cause, I have undertaken a research paper focused on the socio-economic empowerment of women in rural areas, delving into the systemic barriers that prevent women from accessing education and employment, including cultural norms, lack of infrastructure, and limited governmental support. I examined successful case studies from other regions, drawing insights on how local industries, vocational training programs, and microfinance initiatives can be tailored to the needs of women in my hometown.

During my travels to remote areas, seeing the beautiful landscapes and the untold stories, I felt a strong responsibility to support sustainable tourism that could uplift local economies and preserve cultural heritage. I wanted to go beyond admiration—to help create opportunities for others to experience these hidden gems with the same appreciation.
With this vision, I embarked on a research project aimed at helping local tourism businesses by investigating how local cultural involvement and social media engagement influence customer behavior and overall satisfaction in Northern Vietnam. Utilizing the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), I analyzed how tourists' interactions with local culture—through experiences like traditional crafts, festivals, and cuisine—influence their overall satisfaction, and how sharing these experiences online influences behavior and perceptions.
The findings highlighted the increasing significance of social media as a platform for influencing customer behavior and enhancing the visibility of local cultural /assets, suggesting that integrating cultural engagement with digital strategies can significantly boost tourism satisfaction and promote sustainable tourism practices. Seeing the potential of these strategies, I felt a renewed commitment to promote Vietnam's heritage thoughtfully, ensuring that these vibrant traditions continue to thrive.
